Chamonix “Uber” Taxi.

Chamonixcabs app

Chamonixcabs app

Many people ask us why “Uber” doesn’t exist in Chamonix, and why the taxi system is so bad, so we decided to set up our own APP.

Its called Chamonixcabs and can be downloaded on either iPhone or android.

It will be up and running properly from this winter onwards.

if for some reason it doesn’t work (still some bugs) you can always call us on 0033679014602.

Geneva airport to Chamonix for UTMB

UTMB 2016

UTMB 2016

The UTMB 2016 is just around the corner and many people will now be looking for the best method of getting form Geneva airport to Chamonix.

If you are travelling with your family and/or friends the best thing to do is book a “private” transfer from the airport.  This way the cost is kept down per person and you won’t have a long tedious wait in the airport.

Contact us for more information about our private transfers.

Chamonix skiing open from 5th December onwards!

The latest information on the Companie Du Mont-blanc website says the following.

“The Grands Montets ski area will be open continuously from December 5th, 2015. Timetable: From December 5th, until December 18th 2015 included. First departure from Lognan at 9am, last round trip at 3:45pm, last one-way mountaineers 4:15pm and last descent from Lognan at 4:45pm. Have nice day !”

This is great news and means the conditions up on the mountain are better at this time of year than they have been for a number of years.

Lets hope there is more on the way!

Book your Geneva airport transfer Quick!

The latest snow forecast for the Alps is looking very good!

If you have not already booked your airport transfer now might be a good time.  An early dump of snow followed by cold weather is the perfect start to the season and means that Xmas and New Year is more likely to be “Snow Sure”.

We will of course be following this and reporting as soon as we see the white stuff falling out of the sky.

Chamonix Taxi

Sometimes (often) its difficult to find a Taxi in Chamonix, especially in the evening when you would rightly expect to find at least one sitting in the taxi rank outside the train station.

The best way to prepare for an evening out in Chamonix is to pre-book your taxi, this means that your driver will be exactly where you request at exactly the time you request with the appropriate vehicle for the number of people that are in your group.

At Chamonixcabs we operate with a number of vehicles including our Nissan Leaf 100% electric vehicle that allows us to move people around the valley with ZERO EMISSIONS.

Park Merlet, Short taxi ride from Chamonix

Park Merlet

Park Merlet

When visiting Chamonix there are a large number of great activities, one is to visit Park Merlet in Les Houches, Coupeau.  Park Merlet, Les Houches

With children its a wonderful day out, there is a great Restaurant with fantastic views and a number of wonderful walks where you will spot lots of wildlife such as Chamois, bouquetins, mouflons, marmottes and dear.

Getting there can be easy, there is a Bus service from Les Houches centre (Marie) that stops by the Train station in Les Houches and costs 2 Euros.  This will still require a bit of a walk but it will be worth it.

We also offer transport to the Park either in one of our minibuses or our Eco taxi from anywhere in the Chamonix Valley.

Chamonix Eco Taxi Cab service

Its a project that has taken quite a lot of time getting off the ground for many reasons, the most recent being “Nissan” taking 2 months to transport a vehicle 500 Km’s!

After discussions with many people in Chamonix from our regular clients and hotels right through to the Chamonix tourist office and Marie we are finally up and running.

The Idea is very simple, provide a taxi/cab service in the Chamonix Valley (and beyond if possible) with a 100% electric vehicle.  The benefits are two fold, firstly we will be moving people without producing any local pollution at all (which in Chamonix is desperately needed) and secondly we are actively promoting the use of electric vehicles in the Chamonix valley.

On this second note, if anyone reading this (anyone?) is interested in finding out more about electric vehicles you are more than welcome to contact us and come have a look, drive etc with a view to potentially increasing the number of these cars on the road.
